"George Crown and I both developed initially in the high school classes of John Dropcho ( also in this collection.) What George has mastered that has eluded me is a great facility in transparent watercolor! He paints, especially the freighter of the Great Lakes, with the observational skill of someone who lives on the water. I can't help but hear echoes of "The Edmond Fitzgerald" when I see this piece! His recent series of Scottish ruins also show his ability to use his skill to create works of lasting importance in this difficult medium." -FD
