"I first met Eliza personally in the early 2000s at Sherry French Gallery in New York City. We were both exhibiting in one of Sherry's "Mainly Maine" shows at her Chelsea space.
Her work is contemplative and sensitive, almost always anchored by horizontal shapes. Whether in her landscapes, figurative or still life paintings, Eliza paints with a sense of completeness. Her attention to edges, color, tonality and texture results in both a fidelity to nature, and a clearly identifiable "style." Even in this small, 4 x 12 inch nocturn, the distant row of mountains recedes beautifully from right to left into distance.-FD
