This was an experiment, in which I tried to do one painting in seven different styles. As a student of art history, it is interesting to me how the emotional and rational sides of the human personality emerge and conflict, at different times in artist's work. This one painting has a "neutral" center - but to the left, reflects Impressionism; Fauvism; then Expressionism. To the right - Post- impressionism (Cezanne); then a Constructivist and Computer derived solution.
This piece was reproduced and discussed in the excellent book Introduction to Visual LIteracy, by Deborah Curtiss (Prentice Hall 1987).
