"The Impossible Painting"

1984 Acrylic 60" x 54" by F. Danziger

collection: private

This painting was done after the bombing of the marine barracks in Lebanon. I wanted to respond in some way, but felt inadequate to the task. Instead, I did a painting about not being able to do the painting. There is so much futility as you look around the world. It is incomprehensible.

The "photograph" which appears to be taped to the surface of the painting within the painting is from the Iran - Iraq war.

The still life element at the bottom reflect the concerns of everyday life as a contrast.
