"Birch Run Hibernia" -oil- -2002- 40 x 50"
Walking in the park one November morning, this particular view from a small bridge over a tiny creek, (so tiny it is called a "Run")- caught my interest. I always liked this quote from Camille Corot. When someone asked him, "what is the secret of being a great landscape painter?" - he replied, "knowing where to sit down."
I might add, "WHEN" to sit down as well! I have seen this view many times and did not feel compelled to devote two months of my life to painting it, but at this day, at this particular moment, with the sprinkle of red still suspended in the branches and the sun not quite up over the distant hill, I found this exhilarating!
