Return to 1997 Archive - "New England Cemetery- Augusta, Maine" 20" x 23" oil

In mid-September, I had gone to Maine, to paint. To my dismay, it rained, almost the entire time I was there. I also had problems with my truck, getting towed three times on the way back. The last tow, was to the Ford dealer in Augusta. It took me three days to get the job done- since I got there on a Saturday night- and while there, I did this painting in the cemetery across from the dealership.
The headstones dated into the 1700's- with some moving dramas implied on the headstones. The ones in the painting include those of two brothers- who both drowned in the Kennebec river- on the same day: but one year apart...
