"Ganoga Falls Study" by Fred Danziger

Study, Oil on Canvas 14" x 10" Studio piece, Acrylic c. 70 x 52"

The small oil painting (left image) was done "on site" at Ganoga Falls- the largest waterfall to be seen on a hiking trail, featuring dozens of waterfalls, located at Kitchen Creek State Park, in central Pennsylvania. It was used, along with photographs to produce the larger work.
When doing oil studies, I don't try to capture details, but rather a general feeling of color and light- very much in an impressionistic sense. These studies are invaluable to the process of producing the larger, highly detailed studio works.
