The event: Integration of the trolly system in Philadelphia was one of the early civil rights issues. This view show the 1st African Presbyterian Church where William Catto preached. his son Octavius, was a crusader for civil rights who was assassinated in an attempt to intimidate African American voters.
Directly across the street, was the store of William McMullen who had a kind of "fiefdom" at the time, and used violent means to maintain it. View at:
