N. C Wyeth, Winslow Homer, John Sloan and Norman Rockwell... these are just a few of the greatest names in the field of illustration. I do not try to "define" the difference between "fine art" and this field, but I do know I enjoy the collaborative nature of it. It is all "painting"- and the pleasure of creating well rendered, expressive forms in paint, is the same! Since 2015, enlisted by History Making Productions, I have been doing illustrations for television broadcast documentaries. HMP has won multiple Emmy awards, as they tell the stories of Philadelphia in a vivid, fast paced, finely crafted manner. At times, they ask me to help with that process. The paintings here, (and some preliminary sketches) were all done to that end. They are part of an exhibit held at Rodger LaPelle Galleries in Philadelphia during October and November of 2017. Each piece will have an accompanying label which will explain what is happening, and how it fits into the greater narrative of each documentary.
